Once upon a time…. « A beautiful family story… »

 

The story begins in 1963 when Simone and Léon VEYRAT-DUREBEX decide to establish a hotel-restaurant on the summit “Col de la Croix Fry”.  At the time, there is no talk of a sky resort opening!  Léon even has to travel through a rough track road with its 2cv small truck! 

 

The four children: Renée, Marie-Odile, Michèle and Patrice will work as a family.  Visitors come from afar to taste Simone’s cuisine. 

At Léon’s death, Simone carried out the restaurant’s continuity with her daughter Renée and her husband Joseph. 

 

Simone will pass down her passion to her grandson Emmanuel who joined the Thonon les Bains’ Hospitality School followed by the Superior Cooking French School in Paris. 

 

And, after training with Jean COUSSAU from the Relais de la Poste in Magescq, in the Haeberlin family from the Auberge de l’Ill and in l’Eridan with Marc VEYRAT, he decides to join the family business. 

 

A first wave of heavy work starts in the 1990’s: enlargement of the dining room as well the bar and reception area. 

 

Today, it’s the third generation which entertains the Col de la Croix Fry: Renée, Joseph, Emmanuel – the eldest son – in the kitchen and Christophe for the entertainment.  The daughters in law Aline and Peggy take care of the service.  A beautiful family story that has seduced the clients for the past 45 years! 

 

And the story is not over… Phybie, Corentin and Kévin will certainly be there to continue writing the story !
